About

I’ve spent 14 years behind the camera. Mostly stills. Now equally video.

Black and white portrait of a man with glasses, short hair, a beard, wearing a white t-shirt, tattoos on his right arm, and a wristwatch, standing with arms crossed against a plain background.

I started as a photographer and videographer. For a long time, I was the person who showed up on the day, executed the shot list, and delivered the files. Good work. But increasingly disconnected from the thing that actually moves brands forward: a process that holds.

The content economy changed that. Brands stopped wanting just photos. Or just video. They wanted both — same day, same shooter, same story. So I learned video. Then I learned to edit. Now I get hired equally for either, and often for both on the same day.

Most of my work is in sport. Single-day and multi-day events — IRONMAN, Cape Epic, Marathons — and the brand activations around them. Athlete stories, character profiles, brand films built on real moments. I work with international event teams, corporate sports sponsors, sport-entertainment agencies, and event organisers across South Africa and beyond.

I specialise in human-centric storytelling. Character profiles, behind-the-scenes documentary, intimate visual narratives. The kind of content that doesn't just look cinematic — it connects. Built on genuine moments. Not scripted.

Outdoor lifestyle work runs alongside sport — From 4×4 Over-landing to translocation game captures and community projects with Peace Parks Foundation. Less frequent, more seasonal. A creative outlet thats Fuelled by passion and keeps my eye sharp.

When projects need a larger crew, I produce and direct under Kevin Sawyer Studio — crewed from the network I've built over 14 years in the industry. Same person, larger scale.

Based in Cape Town. Available nationally and internationally. If you need a content who runs the day end-to-end — get in touch.
